First!

Welcome to my blog, I’m mf. I’ve been wanting to get a blog up for a while so here it is. And it’s gruvbox 😃

Not sure that there’s going to be much of a theme i stick to here, this will probably be a pretty random collection of posts. One of the biggest motivations for me to start this is, I do enjoy writing but I think I’ve gotten pretty weak. Gotta just bust through these first few and find my flow I think. Sorry to anyone who might be reading these, they’ll get better.

My main quest right now is to get out of the factory I work in. I’ve been here for two years after failing to find anything I actually aligned with when I lost my last job. I’ve worked a lot of jobs, but from 18-33 or so, I was in and out of digital agencies bouncing between being a gofer, web designer and various middle management roles. That finally came to a close and here we are.

I’ve spent pretty much all of this year so far trying to figure out what I can offer to start bringing in my own income. I’ve played with a few options - (that’s a hyphen, not em dash) would love to pursue the indiehacker thing, and maybe I will sometime, but for now, I just don’t see that having wonderful odds of getting me out of the factory. Nevermind we don’t know know what the tech landscape is going to look like in a few months.

So, I’m launching an agency. I’ve wanted to and started to try before, but I just wasn’t ready to commit to it yet. Whenever I’d try in the past I just wouldn’t commit or get right up to the point of having to finding clients. Ultimately writing it off as “I wasn’t ready”. Close to having my first client this time around and I’m feeling really good about the whole thing.

This is not going to be an agency-centric, grindsetty blog, I will find other venues for that. Well, here’s as a good a place as any to mention what I actually hope to cover… I’m a Linux nerd (obligatory Arch, btw). One of the first forums I ever hopped on was some Linux board after my dad’s friend showed us Lindows. I didn’t get super into it or really try dailying it until a little later, but I always liked it for some reason. Now I’ve been exclusively dailying Hyprland+Mostly Arch for about two years. ❤️ Hyprland.

To quick rattle off some other stuff - I like photography and cameras, really want to get a film setup again soon to shoot a roll every couple months. Also like cars, nothing too awesome but I have Town Car I got to freshen up and just take in the land yacht vibes. Currently a squirrel sanctuary apparently so who knows what’s going to happen with that.
